Science Festival

Took the niblings to the Science Festival at the university today. They seemed to enjoy themselves – they made gummy worms; checked out blood under a microscope; touched a human brain and ate Twisties frozen with liquid nitrogen allowing them to breathe “smoke”. I sent them home with periodic tables, they’ll thank me when they’re doctors.

Food, Glorious Food

Lunch today at the University of Otago International Food Festival on the museum lawn. I rediscovered my love of pineapple pie (Pacific Islands – pictured) and learned that I do not like egg custard tart (Singapore). I also enjoyed Vietnamese spring rolls and chicken soup; as well as a free cup of coffee from the lovely Christian biker gang.
