Wellington, the Middle of Middle Earth

Wellington is the Middle of Middle Earth – it says so on the side of the airport. Gandalf riding a giant eagle inside the airport confirms it.

A Passion for Passionfruit

I am a little fussy about food textures – peach and apricot skin? Ick! Squishy fruit bits in yoghurt? Bleugh! Celery? Urgh! (Though I think this is more to do with the earwig in the celery in George’s Marvelous Medicine than the stringiness of it). Therefore it surprises me that I love passionfruit with its crunchy seeds surrounded in slime.
After many weeks of searching they were finally back in stock at my usual supermarket. I bought four and scoffed them. At that price it is a good job they weigh practically nothing.

I Need a Dermatologist on Speed-Dial

We’re all friends here so I’m sharing with you what has been dominating my day today. Yesterday this monstrosity popped up on my cheek. It has now spread to my neck. I am THIRTY TWO not thirteen! If out in public I am wearing my hair down to mask it. When at home the hair is up and I am slathered in potions. It’s times like this I wish I owned, and knew how to apply, make-up.

While we’re on the topic of skin, I also have a rash of some variety on my torso. My GP has no clue what it is.

Such a beautiful lady.

My Lil’est Cousin is a Mrs!

Bethanie, my youngest cousin, got married today. (You may recall a post from last week that preceded the most amazing performance of “Faith” by George Michael that the world has ever seen on Bethanie’s Hen’s Night. Freddie Mercury and Amy Winehouse wept in heaven at the beauty of Pigalina’s voice).

The Pigalina family moved to NZ from England 19 years ago and Bethanie’s family joined a few years later. It is incredibly special to be able to share these family events with them without hopping on a plane for 24 hours at a time. Today we had a lovely celebration in the herb garden at the Dunedin Botanical Garden.

Clock Blocker

I saw these two gems of clocks today at a shop in Dunedin. Anyone would surely be proud for them to grace their lounge wall.
My favourite is the one on the left, it poses so many questions.
Why is there a foot wearing underpants and a bowtie?
Who decided to draw this and propose it as a clock idea?
Who agreed to print it as a clock?
Who ever thought that, yes, this will sell lots, let’s manufacture many of these clocks?
Why did the shop owner buy ANY of them to on-sell?
Baffling.

Oh My Darlin’ Clementine

Sorry Leighton, I know you hate game posts but WHOA! I just finished The Walking Dead Game season 2 – episode 2. What a fantastic storyline! I can’t wait for the next episode. Do you know how much I love this game? So much that I may have accidentally paid for it twice in my haste to download it! Don’t worry about Mr Pigalina, he too was fighting zombies – Dead Island. Hashtag Geek Life.

When in Roxburgh…

Had a meeting in Alexandra (2.5 hours away – that’s NZ for you). I’m usually a Marlow Pies girl but when passing through Roxburgh, home of Jimmy’s pies, it would be rude to eat anything else!

Let Them Not Eat Cake!

Office morning teas this year are to be provided by pod-teams and along the theme of healthy eating.
This first team have set the bar high – with not only an array of healthy fruit and veg to nibble, but also a little bag each with some water, scroggin and a map for a lunchtime walk. Pity about the hail, yay Autumn.

Armageddon Sunday

Because I am too lazy to get up from the warm lounge and venture into the chilly study to empty the photos from my camera; please accept this one of Lumpy Space Princess.
Armageddon is a comic/sci-fi/pop culture convention (NZ’s Comicon). Pigalinas didn’t stay long this year, mainly hitting up the stalls. We are now the proud guardians of Lumpy Space Princess who came with our Adventure Time DVDs. People will also now know that I am the Hand of the King and a supporter of Katniss Everdeen thanks to my new ($6!) brooches. I had hoped to meet Colin Baker of “I’m a Celebrity get me out of here” fame (he was also on some show called “Dr Who”) but timed it wrong.
